Questions and Answers for Prospective Families
A Doctor and/or Medical Staff are on-site and available 24 hours a day.
In case of a medical emergency, campers will be transported with a staff member to the nearest hospital and families will be contacted.
All of our counselling staff must be a minimum age of 19 with many being university or college students. All of our counselling staff have a First Aid and Bronze Cross lifeguarding certification, with most having their National Lifeguard certification.
Cabins generally have 8 campers and a counsellor, also supported by a Junior counsellor and or a Youth Leader in Training.
Cabin mates are put together based on age, and we will do our best to keep friends together.
Campers can sign up for activities each day for the following day at meal times. There is a rotating schedule that allows every camper to be first in line for sign up.
Campers in specialty programs spend approximately half of each day in their program. They spend the rest of their day choosing from over 35 activities with other campers.
Campers usually take a short canoe trip to a nearby island and make camp for the night. They learn to how to build a fire and pitch tents, returning to CAC before lunch the next day. A lot of our campers tell us this is one of their favourite nights!
The food is great! Our chef and staff, including the baker, prepare three meals a day. Meals always include fresh homemade bread, soup, salad, and dessert. For a sample of our menu click here.
You can choose from Gymnastics, Trampoline, Aerials or Waterski/Wakeboard.
We welcome all levels to our programs from novices to experts. No previous experience is required.
Yes! We have an extensive tuck shop with food, drink, toiletries, clothes and lots of CAC gear. Campers can get up to one piece of pop and one piece of candy per day.
We do everything we can to prevent homesickness by greeting and orientating the campers, creating immediate connections, and fostering a safe and welcoming environment. It is very normal for a camper to feel homesick. Our expertly trained staff are excellent at identifying and caring for homesick campers. Our staff are trained on various strategies to help combat homesickness and will continue to check in on your camper and do whatever they can to ensure they have an excellent stay.
There is laundry service available to campers who are staying for 4 weeks or longer.
Yes! We provide a chartered bus with pickups in Toronto and Gravenhurst directly to the dock in Temagami. We also provide a water taxi service for all campers directly to the island.
We notify the kitchen of a camper's dietary restrictions and accommodations are made for each meal.

Campers can send letters through the mail or CACmail. Campers will not be able to call, text or email friends while at camp. Families will also be able to use CACmail (email) to communicate with their children. For more information on communicating with your camper, please click here.

After a camper is registered, we send out a package including our Packing List showing everything you need to bring.
